Inclusion and Diversity

Essential Energy recognises the importance of an inclusive and diverse workforce.

Diversity across all spectrums, including gender, heritage and ability, promotes diversity of thought, which in turn encourages an innovative and agile workforce.

This approach to an inclusive workplace ensures all voices are heard and the potential of every employee is realised.

Our inclusion and diversity streams

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders

Through a range of programs, we are investing in building the capability of young Indigenous people across NSW, returning real benefits to the individuals themselves and also their communities. We are also partnered with The Clontarf Foundation.

Gender

Work180 Endorsed Employer badgeEssential Energy is committed to developing equal opportunities for females within the organisation, with a specific focus on improving female representation in non-traditional and leadership roles. We are an endorsed employer with Work180, a transparent online directory of employers who support diversity, inclusion and equality. We also partner with the National Association of Women in Operations (NAWO), with employees encouraged to undertake professional development opportunities provided by NAWO.

LGBTI

We are committed to creating a strong Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, Transgender and Intersex community within our workplace, where employees feel safe enough to bring their ‘whole selves’ to work. We are partnering with Pride in Diversity, a national not-for-profit employer support program for LGBTI workplace inclusion.

We are also proud to be a participating employer in the AWEI Index. The AWEI now stands as the definitive national benchmark on LGBTI workplace inclusion and comprises the largest and only national employee survey designed to gauge the overall impact of inclusion initiatives on organisational culture as well as identifying and non-identifying employees.

Disability

Aiming to improve employment opportunities for people with a disability, Essential Energy is partnering with specialist organisations to assist in attracting and recruiting people with a disability and accommodating employees with a disability.

Cross generational

We are committed to creating an environment where the perspectives and talents of all generations are valued, respected, and listened to.

Multicultural

We are seeking to build a culturally aware and supportive organisation, one that is inclusive of employees from all backgrounds and preferences.
