The recruitment process for our Internship Program involves six steps. Here is what you need to know about each step.
1. Online application
Complete an online application form, including uploading a copy of your up-to-date resume, cover letter* and academic transcript. Applications close Monday 6 October 2025.
Please note: It is important that applicants monitor their email during the campaign to ensure they receive all communications. When you apply, please ensure you select email as your preferred contact method.

2. Online assessments
On submission of a complete application, you will receive an email with a link to complete the online assessment* phase of the application process. These assessments include:
- Mathematics
- Mechanical Reasoning
- Abstract Reasoning (Problem Solving)
*When you undertake online assessments, there will be opportunities for you to complete practice assessments prior to completing the actual assessment. Take the time to complete the practice assessments. Also ensure you carefully review and follow all of the instructions you are provided.

3. Virtual interview
Once advertising closes, and to help us get to know you better, you will be invited to attend a short one-on-one Zoom interview with a key stakeholder(s) related to the position. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you have. Interviews will be held in late October 2025.
4. Pre-employment checks
Before you officially join the team, you will be required to complete pre-employment checks, including Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) and qualification check(s), as well as a pre-employment medical and work rights check. Pre-employment checks will commence in November 2025.
5. Offer
You will receive a congratulatory phone call if you are successful, followed by an email with your formal offer in November 2025.
6. Commencement
Commence with Essential Energy on a fixed term contract from Monday 1 December 2025.
