Financial Wellbeing

Superannuation
Eligible employees are guaranteed to receive a minimum 16% employer contribution to superannuation. To support our employees on Parental Leave, superannuation contributions will continue to be made for employees on all periods of paid or unpaid Parental Leave for up to a maximum of 12 months.

Eligible employees may elect to receive superannuation benefits in lieu of a proportion of their wages.

Lifestyle
We offer a wide variety of lifestyle benefits to support our employees with their work life balance including a nine-day fortnight, 26 weeks non-gendered parental leave and flexible working arrangements.
Nine-day Fortnight
Eligible employees ordinary hours of work reflect 36 hours per week to be worked in eight consecutive hours per day, over a nine-day fortnight.
Parental Leave
We recognise the importance of parental leave for all employees through the provision of non-gendered parental leave. Eligible employees can receive 26 weeks full pay upon the birth, surrogacy or adoption of a baby. To support our employees on Parental Leave, superannuation contributions will continue to be made for employees on all periods of paid or unpaid Parental Leave for up to a maximum of 12 months.
Flexible Working Arrangements
Essential Energy understands that everybody’s circumstances are different and unique, and that the traditional workday doesn’t work for everyone. Eligible employees can request a Flexible Working Arrangement to suit their personal circumstances.
Purchased Leave
Eligible employees have the option to purchase additional leave, up to four weeks per year, beyond their standard paid leave entitlements.
Prorated Long Service Leave
Eligible employees can access their prorated Long Service Leave after they have completed seven years of continuous service.
Annual Leave at Half Pay
Employees with an annual leave balance of eight weeks or less at the time of commencing leave can choose to take their annual leave at half pay.
Blood Donor Leave
Employees, including casual employees, will be granted leave with pay to donate blood to a recognised blood bank during normal working hours, up to two hours on each occasion.
Travel Discounts
Employees can access discounts on accommodation, flights and car hire, for both international and domestic trips, through our corporate partner, Escape Beyond, Travel Beyond’s Leisure Experts.

Essential Energy understands that the wellbeing of our employees is integral to their overall productivity and happiness. We offer a range of health and wellbeing benefits designed to support the different needs of our employee’s physical and mental health.
Fitness Passport
Access for employees and their immediate families to over 300 gyms, pools, and fitness centres in NSW at a reduced cost.
Employee Assistance Program
Employees, their family and household members have access to social workers, psychologists and other professionals that provide confidential counselling and coaching support. Influenza Vaccination

IGNITE Health Screenings
IGNITE Health Screening is aimed at helping employees manage the cost of attending recommended health screens relevant to their age and gender. Essential Energy will cover the gap paid for an extended visit with a General Practitioner and/or any pathology/screening fees of up to $200 per person per financial year.

Free and confidential 30-minute health checks are available to all employees.
