Essential Energy has been notified of a fire involving its community battery at Goulburn at approximately 2.40pm on Wednesday, 2 September.

Emergency services attended the Gibson St site, and the fire was extinguished. The battery has been isolated from the electricity network.

There were no reported injuries. As a precaution, emergency services remain on site, and have established an exclusion zone around the battery. We ask the community to maintain a safe distance from the Gibson Street site.

Essential Energy supported emergency services at the time and are now working to understand what occurred.

As a safety measure, a feeder was isolated due to the fire, affecting power supply to around 1300 customers. Power was restored to all customers by 4.30pm.
