Essential Energy is resuming normal operations following Telstra’s national network outage earlier today.
Telstra has advised it has identified the fault and restored the majority of affected services, although it may take some time for services to be fully restored.
Planned outages and scheduled field work will proceed as normal from tomorrow, unless customers are advised otherwise.
Essential Energy’s electricity network continues to operate safely and reliably, and crews continue to respond to faults, emergencies and priority work.
The contact centre remains operational, and customers should continue to report power outages, fallen powerlines or electrical hazards through the usual Essential Energy channels.

This morning, in response to Telstra’s national network outage, Essential Energy has suspended all planned power outages and non-critical work today, as a precaution.
A small number of planned outages may have proceeded where work was already underway. All work continued under Essential Energy’s established safety and operating procedures.
Our electricity network continues to operate safely and reliably, and our crews will continue to respond to faults, emergencies and priority work.
Our contact centre remains operational, and customers should continue to report power outages, fallen powerlines or electrical hazards through the usual Essential Energy channels.
Telstra’s network outage is affecting some telecommunications services. This may delay the delivery of some Essential Energy SMS notifications to customers, including outage updates.
Essential Energy’s operational systems and contingency arrangements are designed to support network operations during telecommunications disruptions, including the use of dedicated radio and satellite communications where required to co-ordinate field crews.
We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as Telstra restores services.
