Essential Energy powers up for Goulburn Convoy for Kids

11 November 2024

Essential Energy joined the Goulburn community to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Convoy for Kids which has been supporting the families of children with special needs since 1999.

Each year, a convoy of trucks and vehicles travels through the streets of Goulburn, receiving record entries, crowds, and funds, with more than $30,000 donated directly to local families last year.

Goulburn depot Senior Resource Supervisor, Myles McClelland says Essential Energy has long supported the Convoy for Kids which again saw huge numbers for the event on 9 November.

“We’re always very vocal with our participation in this great community event,” Myles says. “The kids feel like rock stars riding in the trucks and we made sure we were out in force.”

The convoy traverses from the north of Goulburn and through the main street of the CBD before stopping at the Goulburn Showground for a day of auctions of donated goods and services from local businesses, along with a carnival atmosphere of rides and live music.

Myles says Essential Energy is proud to have supported the event since its inception.

“We support the Convoy for Kids because it is an event with very strong connections to the Goulburn community.

“The charity is run by local volunteers and all funds raised are distributed within the local community, so we are proud to assist local kids with special needs,” Myles says.

Money raised each year assists local families with transport and accommodation for essential medical treatment, plus assistance with medical expenses and clothing.
