Essential Energy’s graduate program has received national recognition in the Prosple Top 100 Graduate Employers list for 2025.
The NSW-based energy distributor has been named the number one Energy & Utilities graduate employer while also ranking 22nd in the overall list of the top 100 graduate employers in Australia.
Prosple connects early-stage career seekers with job opportunities across Australia, New Zealand, India, Indonesia and the Philippines.
Essential Energy Chief People Officer, Amalie Smith says the honour reflects the organisation’s commitment to providing graduates with exceptional opportunities and experiences.
“Guided by the insights of those who know us best – our people – we continuously refine our Early Talent Pathway programs to ensure they offer meaningful career pathways and personal growth,” Amalie says.
“Our Graduate Program provides experienced-based learning, mentor and peer support, and networking opportunities for three years. Graduates undertake rotations across the business, gaining a detailed understanding of the electricity distribution system, while consolidating their university education.”

This recognition also coincides with the launch of Essential Energy’s 2025 Graduate and Trainee Programs, where 17 graduates and eight business service trainees were welcomed into the organisation to begin learning skills for a career in the energy sector. This year’s Graduate Program also includes four female-identified STEM graduate positions.
Graduates rotate through roles such as engineering, health sciences, human resources, sustainability, cyber security and contract management. Once completed, they will begin as full-time employees with Essential Energy.
The eight business service trainees are all First Nations people who will gain experience in areas such as fleet, contracts, customer service, data analysis and service delivery. Trainees undertake on-the-job training while working towards a nationally recognised qualification.
Graduates and business service trainees are mostly based at Essential Energy’s Port Macquarie headquarters. Prospective applicants can find out more about Essential Energy’s Graduate Pathways and Traineeships where dates for the 2026 intakes will be made available as they open.
