Understanding the potential risks in the workplace that can impact an employee’s mental wellbeing and the facilitation of support programs has seen Cathy Connors named Psychosocial Risk Management Professional of the Year.
Cathy took out the honours at the 2024 Women in Safety Awards held in Brisbane on Thursday 17 October.
As Essential Energy’s Health and Wellbeing Manager, Cathy is passionate about promoting mental health resilience among employees and leaders.
“We are committed to creating a work environment where employee wellbeing comes first,” Cathy said.
“Through initiatives like Mental Health First Aid training, our Mental Health Champion network and our review and assessment of psychosocial hazards and infrastructure, we have maintained a successful culture of health, safety, and productivity.”
Although Cathy recognises this award as a team achievement, it acknowledges her role in facilitating the right programs of support for the organisation.
“Our dedication to innovation, employee engagement, and tangible results has enhanced the wellbeing of our employees as well as the performance of our organisation overall,’ she said.
Congratulations Cathy on receiving this national recognition that celebrates the achievements of women in health and safety.
