A million ways to say thanks

04 May 2022

Essential Energy employees give back to their community in many ways – as volunteers, as blood donors and with regular charity donations. The Essential Giving Program has been in place since 2014 and has recently hit a million-dollar milestone, raising more than $1m for charity partners.

Program partners have advised us that these types of donations are even more important than ever as the impacts COVID-19 reduced their ability to fundraise in other ways.

The charity partners were selected by employees at the commencement of the program with others since added through an employee-led nomination process.

The program allows employees to donate to one of nine charities of their choice from their pre-tax salary, with Essential Energy doubling the impact by matching employee donations dollar-for-dollar.

Current program partners are Can Assist, Children’s Tumour Foundation, Garvan Institute of Medical Research, Lifeline, OzED, Royal Far West, Variety Australia, and Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.

The charities represent a range of organisations which support and make a difference in their communities. Through the employee-led EGP Committee, the charities are also able to share updates on how the donations funds are assisting communities throughout the Essential Energy footprint.
