Essential Energy continues to set the standard for workplace equity, securing two prestigious WORK180 Equitable Workplace Awards for a second year.
The energy distributor was presented with the Large Enterprise Award within Mining, Resources & Energy for its industry-leading approach to workplace equity and inclusion, and the Flexible Working Arrangements Large Enterprise Award for its commitment to creating a workplace that supports balance, productivity, and inclusivity for all employees.
These awards follow last year’s recognition by WORK180 for pay equity, making it the top-ranked organisation in the Mining, Resources & Energy sector for the second consecutive year.
Essential Energy’s Chief People Officer, Amalie Smith is extremely proud of the team’s efforts and the company’s continued focus to strive towards an equitable workplace.
"We’re dedicated to fostering an environment where all employees feel valued, supported, and empowered. These awards reflect our unwavering commitment to diversity and inclusion and our focus on flexible work arrangements that meet the evolving needs of our people,” Amalie says.
“Our initiatives, including the Women from the Field Program and Female Apprentice & Trainee Support Pack, have been instrumental in creating sustainable career pathways for women.”
Essential Energy continues to advance corporate inclusion with female representation, including females in senior leadership positions continually rising year-on-year. Targeted graduate roles strengthened partnerships and key certifications like Family Friendly Workplace support this progress. We celebrate female talent through initiatives like the Women in Leadership Summit attendance and the recognition of employees by sharing their stories and successes.

Enhanced gender neutral paid parental leave places Essential Energy among the top three WORK180-endorsed employers, along with strong policies and support frameworks. Through the Champions of Change coalition and Chief Executive Officer-led listen-and-learn sessions, we foster an inclusive, supportive workplace.
Amalie says Essential Energy is proving that workplace equity and flexibility aren’t just goals – they’re a way of doing business.
“With back-to-back wins and continued progress, we continue to look toward the future and remain committed to fostering a culture where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.”
Essential Energy has also shown its commitment to being a top endorsed employer by moving up from #6 to #5 in Australia's Top 101 Workplaces for Women.
