Graduate to a new future

Essential Energy, the electricity network operator powering a new energy future across 95% of NSW and parts of Southern Queensland, is calling for future graduates to apply for their 2023 Graduate Program. This year, the organisation is seeking 13 graduates from the fields of Engineering, Information Technology, Human Resources, and Finance.

“This year’s cohort of graduates represent a significant increase from previous years in the total number of graduates we are inviting to join our organisation and reflects the value we believe graduates can bring to our organisation,” said Amalie Smith, Chief Human Resources Officer.

“As a regionally-based business that thinks on a global level, we’re looking for the next group of graduates to bring their passion, determination and curiosity to a role that will offer them the opportunity to be a part of a new energy future for our regional, rural and remote footprint.”

Ms Smith said “In return, our graduates receive an in-depth overview of our electricity distribution business, valuable on-the-job experience, skills training, and access to professional development. We believe it gives graduates the chance to develop their careers in a large, diverse organisation which plays a vital role.

With Essential Energy’s network footprint stretching across 737,000 square kilometres, graduates have the opportunity to obtain state-wide industry experience in an industry undergoing significant transition.

“Successful applicants will develop their knowledge by working on a range of projects aligned with their qualifications, transitioning from study to professional life with a structured program to help launch their careers,” she said.

Ms Smith said the graduate program was part of Essential Energy’s strategy to attract and retain a diverse, inclusive, and dynamic workforce.

“Our Early Talent Pathway programs are designed to create career opportunities for new talent joining our business, with the intent of developing them into future leaders and technical experts,” she said.

“We’re particularly encouraging women and people from diverse backgrounds to help us build on our high-performing, diverse and truly inclusive workforce.”

Applications for Essential Energy’s 2023 Graduate program open 26 April 2022 and close 22 May 2022.
