1. Online application
Complete an online application form, including uploading a copy of your up-to-date resume and a cover letter.
2. Online assessments
On submission of a complete application, you will be asked to undertake online assessments*. These assessments include:
- Mathematics
- Mechanical Reasoning
- Abstract Reasoning (Problem Solving)
Please note: It is important that applicants monitor their email during the campaign to ensure they receive all communications. When you apply, please ensure you select email as your preferred contact method.
*When you undertake online assessments, there will be opportunities for you to complete practice assessments prior to completing the actual assessment. Take the time to complete the practice assessments. Also ensure you carefully review and follow all of the instructions you are provided.

3. Work readiness assessment
Receive an invitation to participate in an online readiness assessment*. This assesses:
- Literacy and
- Numeracy competency
4. Assessment day
Receive an invitation to attend an assessment day.
These are held at local depots across the State and include activities such as:
- Practical assessments
- One-on-one interview
- Tour of the depot
5. Pre-employment checks
Undertake pre-employment checks, which include:
- Reference checks
- Pre-employment medical
- Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC)
- Working rights check
6. Offer of employment
You will receive a congratulatory phone call if you are successful, followed by an email with your formal offer.
7. Commencement and induction
Commence with the depot and undertake the field induction.
