Division 2A of the Electricity Supply Act 1995 refers to special powers for bushfire prevention and authorises Essential Energy to:
- enter the property and undertake the work on your behalf in the interest of public safety, and
- recover the reasonable cost of doing the work.
Part 6 of the Electricity Supply (Safety and Network Management) Regulation 2014 refers to disconnection from the distribution system and authorises Essential Energy to:
- disconnect a premise from its distribution system if Essential Energy reasonably considers that the electrical installation on the premises is (or is likely to become) unsafe if the premises continue to be (or are) connected to the distribution system.
- where persons are listed as using medical devices, enter the property and undertake the work on your behalf in the interest of public safety, and recover the reasonable cost of doing the work.
