Our vocational traineeships provide opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to join the energy industry in a variety of roles.
A traineeship is a great way to kick start your career, with combined formal learning and on-the-job training, your journey will be supported by a great crew and professional training team. You will continue to grow and develop and have fantastic career pathway options and opportunities. Several are available for our 2024 program, commencing in late January 2024. These traineeships are a 12-month program and combine structured nationally recognised training with on-the-job experience.
Finance Operations Traineeship
As a Finance Trainee, you will join the Finance Operations Team, engaging in a variety of activities primarily across the Accounts Payable and Billing functions, to meet Essential Energy’s processing, analysis and improvement requirements. You will undertake transaction processing using best of use systems, process improvement activities, monitor business processes and investigate and resolve problems.
You will gain a Certificate III in Business and gain valuable skills through on-the-job training. In Accounts Payable you will learn the Procure to Pay processes, gain the ability to accurately process supplier invoices through to payment and support business areas through this process. In Billing, you will learn how to process all billing and related functions within business systems to allow for timely and accurate issue of customer accounts, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
Service Delivery Officer Traineeships
As a Service Delivery Officer, you will join the Service Delivery Team assisting to deliver administrative services within Network Service to assist in ensuring reliable and accurate information is available to facilitate the efficient operation of the division in achieving its business goals.
You will gain an Certificate III in Business Administration and gain valuable skills through on-the-job training. You will learn how to provide administrative services including accurate data entry and validation of data in an efficient manner, while ensuring compliance with privacy legislation and data confidentiality requirements.

Bathurst, Port Macquarie, Tamworth and Wagga Wagga.

Note: Rate as of 1 July 2023, with yearly CPI changes in line with the relevant Enterprise Agreement.
*Allowances are paid in addition to this amount. All costs associated with travelling for training and work are paid for by Essential Energy.
