As a Graduate Engineer with Essential Energy, you’ll be able to grow and build your knowledge and skills while delivering real time engineering solutions and advice. You’ll rotate throughout the organisation, working with industry experts, having a direct impact on the energy transition to renewables by providing great outcomes to our customers in regional NSW.
You’ll be part of a program with Engineers Australia and have mentorship from within Essential Energy to develop and reach your goals. AI / Machine Learning Graduate
Do you have a strong interest in machine learning, artificial intelligence, and modern software engineering? This graduate role is designed as a development pathway toward an AI or Machine Learning Engineer position. During the graduate program, the role will remain intentionally broad, allowing exposure to data, cloud platforms, AI services, and emerging tools as the technology landscape and organisational capability continue to evolve.
Over time, and as both the graduate and the organisation mature in this space, the role is expected to specialise into an AI or ML engineering role, contributing to the design, development, and deployment of intelligent, data driven solutions across the enterprise
Technology & AI Risk Graduate
Join our Digital Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) team and help shape how Essential Energy delivers digital change safely, securely and responsibly. As a Graduate in Digital GRC, you’ll work alongside experienced specialists to identify, assess and manage digital risks across technology, data, cyber security and emerging capabilities such as artificial intelligence.
You’ll support digital and AI governance, contribute to risk and compliance assurance activities, and collaborate closely with cyber, data and digital delivery teams to ensure innovation is well‑governed and compliant. This role offers hands‑on experience, variety and strong development opportunities for graduates interested in building a career at the intersection of technology, risk and trust.

Business Improvement Specialist (AI) Graduate
As a Business Improvement Specialist (AI) Graduate, you’ll rotate across teams to support AI‑enabled improvement initiatives from early opportunity identification through to post‑implementation optimisation.
You’ll work with business, digital and analytics teams to understand end‑to‑end processes, identify where AI and automation can deliver value, and contribute to shaping solutions that improve efficiency, outcomes and customer experience.
You’ll also support AI initiatives once implemented by analysing performance, data and user feedback to assess whether expected benefits are being realised and identify opportunities for enhancement. Working across grid, customer and corporate environments, you’ll help translate insights into clear recommendations for optimisation and future delivery phases. This role offers hands‑on exposure to the full AI implementation lifecycle and the opportunity to work at the intersection of technology, data and business change.
Digital Operations Pathway

AI Engineer - Digital Operations Graduate
As a Digital Workplace AI Enablement Graduate within our Cloud team, you’ll help design, build and deploy intelligent solutions that enhance productivity and collaboration across the Microsoft ecosystem.
You’ll work at the intersection of AI and enterprise productivity, developing AI‑powered capabilities that integrate with tools such as Teams, SharePoint, Outlook and OneDrive, as well as Copilot and the Power Platform.
This is a hands‑on engineering role where you’ll partner with product teams, platform specialists and enterprise architects to turn emerging AI into practical, high‑impact solutions for a modern digital workplace. You’ll contribute to delivering well‑designed, scalable enhancements that improve how people work every day.
Cyber Security Graduate
As a Cyber Security Engineering Graduate in our Cyber Operations team, you’ll rotate across core cyber functions and major programs of work gaining hands-on experience in detection engineering, incident response, vulnerability management, and security architecture. You’ll partner with engineers and business stakeholders to assess risk, triage, and respond to threats, and help embed security-by-design across our digital transformation. Along the way, you’ll strengthen our cyber resilience by supporting governance, risk and compliance activities that keep our organisation aligned to security standards and ready for evolving attacker tactics.
You’ll contribute to designing, configuring, testing, and operating security tooling across both IT and OT environments - such as endpoint protection, identity and access controls, SIEM/SOAR workflows, and network security capabilities. You’ll help uncover and validate vulnerabilities, support incident investigations, and post-incident improvements, and continuously refine the processes that keep critical services secure and available. You’ll also work with Platform Engineering and the Security Operations Centre to collect, enrich, and analyse event data, turning telemetry into actionable insights and building the technical depth that makes this role a challenging and highly valuable step in your cybersecurity career.
Information Technology (Platforms) Graduate
As a Technology Platforms Graduate within our Operational Technology Systems team, you will support the day‑to‑day operation of critical business applications and their underlying infrastructure. You will assist with monitoring system health, incident response and resolution, root cause analysis and ongoing maintenance to ensure systems used in mission‑critical environments remain reliable and fit for purpose.
Working alongside experienced application and infrastructure specialists, you will help troubleshoot complex technology issues, support system patching and testing, and contribute to continuous improvement activities. This role offers hands‑on experience, exposure to real‑world operational systems, and strong opportunities for learning and development.
Procurement Pathway
Degree: Business, Supply Chain Management, Commerce, Economics or relevant
Supply Chain Graduate
As a Supply Chain Graduate, you’ll rotate across key areas of the procurement function, gaining broad exposure to governance and improvement, procurement operations, sourcing and major projects. You’ll support the delivery of the Procurement Improvement Program by coordinating initiatives, maintaining governance frameworks, and helping ensure procurement policies, procedures and planning artefacts remain current, aligned and effectively adopted across the organisation.
Working closely with experienced professionals, you’ll contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by supporting policy and procedure reviews, maintaining procurement planning and performance artefacts, and assisting with ESG and Modern Slavery reporting activities. You’ll also help develop learning and communication materials, manage procurement information repositories, and support change initiatives—building strong organisational, analytical and stakeholder engagement skills while developing a solid foundation in supply chain and procurement operations.
