Essential Energy has announced the appointment of Ms Terri Benson as a new non-executive director, effective 28 April 2022.

Ms Benson brings significant experience to Essential Energy’s Board, having joined the energy sector in 1998. Ms Benson has held a range of both executive and non-executive director roles in Government, utility and private infrastructure sectors, including Managing Director of Essential Energy from 2010 to 2012 and several Executive General Manager roles at Essential Energy and its predecessors.

Ms Benson is currently the Managing Director of Birdon, a global maritime engineering group providing whole of life solutions to the maritime, defence and resources sectors, and prior to this was the Managing Director of the Victorian Government's water services company, South East Water.

John Fletcher, non-executive director, will also be retiring from the Board on 13 May 2022.

Mr Fletcher has played a pivotal role as a valued Board member during a time when the energy industry has experienced significant change and when the business has responded to unprecedented events including bushfires, a health pandemic and recent floods.

The Chair of Essential Energy Doug Halley said that he was delighted to welcome Ms Benson to the Essential Energy Board. Mr Halley also thanked Mr Fletcher for his valuable input to the Board and as Chair of its Audit (and Risk) Committee for almost six years.
