Essential Energy is collaborating with data providers to help bring reliable internet and cloud services into regional, rural and remote communities.
One example of this is Leading Edge Data Centres, who are building a network of 26 regional data centres across Australia. To date, they have opened six in NSW, most of which are in Essential Energy’s network footprint. These include Tamworth, Dubbo, Albury, Wagga Wagga and Coffs Harbour.
Digital infrastructure, such as data centres, will future proof regional areas by having the cloud infrastructure and technology close to where the user is. Projects like this help overcome challenges of connectivity across the network footprint and can make it faster, cheaper and more efficient.
Building a resilient platform that can support more advanced industry can attract new businesses and bring new economic opportunities to the area. Attracting to new industries, supports business growth and development, creates more employment and strengthens our regional communities.
Essential Energy values the opportunity to work closely with customers, from the beginning of a development project right through to the end, to help regional businesses grow and prosper.
Essential Energy’s Chief Executive Officer, John Cleland attended the official opening of the data centre in Albury.
